The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals meet on Monday night with each team trying to stay within striking distance of the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West.  Normally when you are talking about two 3-7 teams you are talking about teams out of the playoff race but in the NFC West each team is just two NFL betting games behind Seattle.  The winner of this game will still have some realistic hope while the loser will fall to 3-8.

San Francisco is a 1-point favorite with a total of 41 at SBG Global.  Monday, 8:35 pm Eastern – ESPN

Neither the 49ers nor the Cardinals have explosive offenses so this could be a low scoring game on Monday night.  The 49ers didn’t even score last week as they were shut out at home by Tampa Bay but they are still thought of as having a better offense than Arizona.  The 49ers should have some success on Monday against a poor Cardinals defense.  Arizona has had trouble stopping the run so San Francisco running back Frank Gore should have a big game.

The 49ers and Cardinals have both had quarterback issues this NFL betting season but for now each team seems to have settled on their starter. The 49ers are sticking with Troy Smith while the Cardinals are going with Derek Anderson. Neither inspires much confidence but at least they are better than the backups.  This is a big game for Troy Smith because the 49ers could go back to Alex Smith if they do not put some points on the board and that would be a sad situation since Alex Smith has done nothing in his career as a starting quarterback.

Here are the football betting stats for Monday’s game. The 49ers are 17-5 ATS in their last 22 Monday games. The 49ers are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games as a road favorite. The 49ers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The 49ers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings in Arizona. The Cardinals are 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games as a home underdog. The Cardinals are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

The Under is 7-1-1 in the 49ers last 9 vs. the NFC West. The Over is 6-1 in the Cardinals last 7 games as a home underdog. The Under is 5-1 in the Cardinals last 6 vs. the NFC West. The Over is 7-2 in the Cardinals last 9 games overall. The Over is 19-7 in the Cardinals last 26 home games. The Over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between the two teams in Arizona.
