New York Giants Odds to Win 2008 NFC - 2009 Super Bowl
Absolutely zero respect coming the New York Giants way considering they are the reigning Super Bowl champs yet odds makers have the Giants odds to win the 2008 NFC set at +700 or 7/1 and to win the 2009 Super Bowl set at +1700 or 17 to 1 at SBG Global
Should you consider a bet on the New York Giants? Why not!
It's the AFC that is once again top heavy with big team favorites while the NFC essentially only has the Dallas Cowboys - if we are to believe the odds makers and just about every other pundit out there.
Only Dallas has shorter odds than the Giants - +425 to win the 2009 Super Bowl.
The Minnesota Vikings are expected to be hot, but there is no evidence of this concept just yet. They had the same odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl as the New York Giants entering the season.
Even in their own division the New York Giants are being treated like the red headed step child that hasn't won a Super Bowl in more than 100 years.
A $100 bet pays $425 at SBG Global.
Now on paper we here at Gambling911.com have accepted the idea that Tony Romo and his Dallas Cowboys will win the division. Reality may be something entirely different, however. Didn't the Giants beat the Cowboys to get into the Super Bowl last year?
Sure there are things to consider before placing that New York Giants bet. James Alder from About.com:
As defending Super Bowl champions, the Giants will have a target on their backs each and every time they take the field and will not be able to sneak up on anyone this time around. There have also been some off-field distractions already with Shockey's shouting match with general manager Jerry Reese, Burress' contract situation, and running back Ahmad Bradshaw's time behind bars, so we may already be seeing some warning signs with this team.
The Giants are, however, still a very talented team. But the NFC East may very well turn out to be the toughest and most competitive division in the league this year. So a drop in the standings would hardly be a shocker. New York should remain a playoff contender again this year. And as they showed last year, anything can happen once you get to the post-season.
