The New York Yankees odds to win the 2008 World Series sat at +750 - a payout potential of $750 for every $100 bet at BetUS.com

These odds were intact following news that New York acquired catcher Ivan Rodriguez from the Tigers on Wednesday for right-handed pitcher Kyle Farnsworth.

"Honestly, I was shocked by this, but that's baseball," Rodriguez said. "Now, I'm just looking forward to playing for the Yankees and maybe I will play against Detroit again in the playoffs."

After New York's 13-3 rout of the Orioles on Wednesday, Yankees manager Joe Girardi expressed his satisfaction with the deal.

"He's hitting over .290 I believe and he's been hot so we're looking forward to having him," he said.

The Yankees had hovered around the .500 mark prior to the All Star Break but have been surging in recent weeks. New York is now within 4 games of catching up with the American League East leading Tampa Bay Rays and one game away from the Boston Red Sox.

"There is excellent value here and one must expect the price will be cut over the next few days," predicts Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "The $750 payout potential for every $100 bet is the top price offered on the season."

The Yankees had won 7 of their last 10 at press time.
