Odds to Win the 2017 WGC-HSBC Champions

The odds of winning this week’s WGC-HSBC Champions had Dustin Johnson as a 8/1 favorite with Hideki Matsuyama coming in with the second shortest odds at 10/1.  Live odds can be found here

The world’s number one, Johnson, was headlining this year’s WGC-HSBC event, which kicks off Wednesday night Eastern Standard Time.

Johnson has won three of the last five WGC contests – he won the 2016 Bridgestone Invitational and the 2017 Dell Technologies Match Play Championship and the 2017 Mexico Championship.

He is the only player to win all four WGC titles.

“They are very important tournaments. They are big tournaments. They bring together the best players in the world,” said Johnson, who won four of his 16 Tour titles last season. “My game will probably be a little rusty, but hopefully we can shake it off before the first round.”

The 25-year-old Matsuyama is the first Asian to win a World Golf Championship a year ago then won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational title in August.

“It is different coming back as defending champion,” said Matsuyama, the world No. 4 who seared his way to victory last year by a comprehensive seven shots over the Swede Stenson and Daniel Berger of the United States.

“I don’t want to put a lot of pressure or expectation on myself, I just want to let the tournament come to me, like it did last year.”
