Luke Donald comes in as the oddsmakers favorite to win the US Open Championship by default now that he is number one ranked.

"Being No. 1 is a great achievement," Donald said, "but if you ask me, if I would swap that for Phil [Mickelson's] record, sure, I would love to take his [four] majors and the number of victories he has had."

Westwood is ranked number two in the world.

In 11 PGA events last year, he had one first (in Memphis), two seconds, six top 10s and eight top 25s, winning S3,399,954. Late in the year, even battling a calf injury, he managed a second-place finish in the British Open.

“I’ve been playing well and my confidence is high. The way I’ve been playing, I look forward to playing this week,” Westwood said coming into the US Masters.

Tiger Woods is not participating.
