A review of this matchup shows that Oklahoma has won 4 of the last games in this series, however, Gambling911.com must caution that the two road wins were by less than the current 7 point spread. These two teams have split the ATS series.
The Sooners are 7-1 ATS following a Straight Up win of more than 20 points. The Cowboys are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 home games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a Straight Up win and 5-1 ATS against teams with a winning record.
How important is this game to Oklahoma?
If the Sooners don't beat the Cowboys on Saturday, what happened against Texas Tech won't matter. OU may be the odds-on choice to represent the Big 12 South at the Big 12 title game (and by extension a pretty good choice to play the winner of the SEC title game in the BCS championship game).
But OU must do two things to get there: win and look good enough doing it to maintain their support from the human voters who already rank them ahead of Texas in the USA Today coaches' poll and the Harris poll.
Do that, and the Sooners can take it on faith the computer component of the BCS won't stand in the way of their passing Texas in the BCS standings, because, ultimately, OU must do that (and finished tied with Texas and Texas Tech with 7-1 records in the Big 12 South) to reach the conference title game.
"We just have to realize that no matter where we are at, we have to come out and win," cornerback Dominique Franks said. "It's all on us. We can't worry about the voters or anything like that. We have to come out and perform to the best of our abilities."
