Pacquiao Mayweather Betting Handle Will Rival That of Super Bowl

Now that the highly anticipated Pacquiao Mayweather fight is set for May 2, some are saying that the betting handle  on this event will rival that of the Super Bowl.

“I would anticipate some sizable wagers on this one. Some million dollar wagers – hopefully coming to us. That’s what I envision” said the Vice President of Race and Sports for MGM Properties in Las Vegas, James Rood in an interview with Covers.com.  “Fight night limits are negotiable for our established players. We’ll see where we sit in the fight and if we need to position ourselves to fade some liability.”

The big fight was finally confirmed Friday afternoon with oddsmakers opening the line at Floyd Mayweather, Jr. -255 and Manny Pacquiao at +210.

Oddsmakers were expected to offer betting on the number of rounds and ultimate outcome along with other props rarely seen with boxing matches.

“We will likely see odds on the weigh-in, prop bets like who will be part of Mayweather’s ringside entourage and much more,” noted Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  “When all is said and done, this fight will likely rank among the most wagered on events of 2015 along side the Super Bowl and Kentucky Derby.”

Pacquiao’s price was expected to be driven down by gamblers throughout Asia.  The current payout of $21 for every $10 bet might be smart to lock in now.
