Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight Venue

While a number of online sports betting sites have begun offering odds on the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, none were offering odds on the venue.  That remains the biggest mystery of the upcoming bout right now since a March date has already been established.

"Right now the promoters seem to be leaning towards Las Vegas and the MGM Grand," said Don Shapiro, Sports Writer for the website.

Promoters of the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight abruptly canceled a trip to Dallas on Wednesday, dealing a possibly fatal blow to the chances of Jerry Jones landing the bout for Cowboys Stadium, according to Tim Dahlberg of the Associated Press.

The trip was cancelled at the last minute because Mayweather's promoter apparently decided he didn't want the fight at the new stadium. The move leaves the MGM Grand Garden as the heavy favorite to host the March 13 fight.

Co-promoter, Bob Arum, was not happy since Jones had apparently rearranged his trip to provide a tour of the new stadium.

"I'm just embarrassed, really embarrassed," Arum said. "(Jones) changed his whole schedule for this, and you certainly want to listen to the man."

The new Dallas Cowboys $1.2 billion stadium was among the big favorites to host the fight early on.

"There was no point in me going (to Dallas)," Arum said. "My guy can't go into the ring and just take bows. He needs an opponent."

New Orleans and Los Angeles were also looking to put in bids for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

The gate for the fight could be the richest ever in boxing, perhaps exceeding the $20 million mark before even starting to count pay-per-view sales, Dahlberg points out.

Las Vegas is widely considered the epicenter of big boxing matches, including those for which both Pacquiao and Mayweather have taken part in.  Mayweather also lives in Vegas.

Mayweather was now a -164 favorite vs. Pacquiao at +120.
