The summer of 2024 presents a number of blockbuster fights both on the boxing and UFC side of the spectrum.  That being said, two of the more highly anticipated bouts have either been canceled or postponed to a later date.

McGregor Out

UFC 303 was to showcase a fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandle on June 29.  Bookmakers anticipated a windfall with this fight. McGregor has always drawn massive amounts of action for sportsbooks and local bookmakers using pay per head fight odds.

According to UFC President Dana White, McGregor had to pull out of the fight due to an injury.

Instead, the new main event will now feature Alex Pereira vs. Jiří Prochazka for the light heavyweight title. The co-main event will be former middleweight champion Brian Ortega vs. rising middleweight star Diego Lopes.

People will still bet this one but it won't be the marquee fight bookmakers were anticipating.

McGregor would speak about his injury later on.

"Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout. I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me," McGregor wrote. "The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team. My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there! Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I'll be back!"

Tyson Paul Moved to November

It's not a total loss, but the much anticipated "Fight of the Summer" will now be the "Fight of the Fall".  YouTube sensation-turned boxer Jake Paul is set to take on the legend Mike Tyson.  Mike can be Jake's dad.  There are still concerns this one won't go off in 2024.

We knew something was amiss when Tyson reportedly suffered a medical scare on board his flight from Miami to Los Angeles.  While on board the plane, prior to takeoff, the 57-year-old had to be tended to by paramedics for dizziness.

Tyson suffered “Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,” Tyson’s representatives told The Post in an email. “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”

The fight is now scheduled for November 15 with odds ranging anywhere from Jake Paul -185 (BetMGM) to -310 (FanDuel).  Expect a number somewhere within this range at your dedicated pay per head bookie.

It's Not All Lost

Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov will take place August 3, 2024 at the BMO Stadium, Los Angeles, CA

This one will  contenders' careers and the welterweight division, so we expect a lot of pressure on the fighters and the fans as they try to predict the outcome.

On April 20, 2024, it was reported that Crawford would move up a weight class to challenge Israil Madrimov for his WBA super welterweight title.

The fight is a bit lopsided but should still attract plenty of betting action.  Crawford comes in at around -625 while Madrimov was listed as the +425 dog.
