Purdue vs. Connecticut Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament odds had the Huskies listed with UConn as the -6 ½ favorite at BetUS.com.

This line could go up further due to the fact that more than 85 percent of the action is going UConn's way early on.

Here's an interesting trend:  Connecticut is 1-5 outright over the last two seasons during the month of March.  Ouch!

But here's the problem for Purdue:  Connecticut is 16-3 all time as the number one seed in NCAA tournaments.

"This line can move well above 7 points and most of the public will still be all over UConn," commented Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  "So far they've been at the right end of two big blowouts in the NCAA Tournament."

Even with the high priced money line (you need to bet $300 to win $100), 90 percent of the action is on UConn to win outright.  Purdue would pay $250 for every $100 bet if they won outright using the money line.

Here is what the Stanford Advocate had to say about this upcoming matchup:

The challenge of knocking off UConn (29-4) seems a little bit more difficult for Purdue (27-9) in the Sweet 16 matchup given the former's blowouts of Tennessee-Chattanooga and Texas A&M.

"Every team in the NCAA Tournament is a good team," Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "And for them to play two teams in the NCAA Tournament and have that kind of margin of victory, really speaks to their overall team. They have a great team."

Purdue, which won the Big Ten tournament after finishing in second place during regular season, is no slouch itself. Three sophomores, guard E'Twaun Moore, forward Robbie Hummel and center JaJuan Johnson, have the Boilermakers playing well.

Purdue beat 12th-seeded Northern Iowa 61-56 in the first round and survived No. 4 Washington 76-74 in round two. Those are solid wins, of course, but Painter knows his team is taking a step up in class to face the East Coast Huskies.

"A lot of times when you play teams you have to lock in on a couple guys," Painter said. "They have more than a couple guys. They have a handful of guys who can get 20 on you any night."

This game was getting the second most betting action of the Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament play.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
