The Oakland Raiders enter the 2009 season with odds of winning anything hinging on who the quarterback will be:  Jeff Garcia or JaMarcus Russell.

For now, Russell will be the man according to Coach Tom Cable.

Cable made the announcement during a Sunday conference call, per David White of the San Francisco Chronicle.

"I've said that it's his job and we'll see how it goes," Cable said of Russell.  "Unfortunately, Jeff hasn't had much work.  We've been fortunate in that JaMarcus has improved.  It would have been nice to have someone really pushing him.  Maybe we could get him to improve a little bit more."

The Raiders will open Monday night football playing against the San Diego Chargers.

The Raiders are a favorite to win UNDER 6 regular season games in 2009.  They are a +7 underdog hosting the Chargers in their first game of the season.
