Rain Likely at Belmont Stakes 2012: Track Could Turn Muddy

Late morning radar indicated a blob of heavy rains moving towards the Belmont race track over the next few hours. 

While the forecast calls for isolated storms, the weather radar appeared to indicate more steady rains possible.  The graphic shows that heavy rain band, which was moving southeast towards the Belmont track. 

It is safe to place a wager on Union Rags, who has proven reliable on mud.  He still paid better than 3/1 and these odds could change dramatically as race time approaches so Gambling911.com suggests locking that bet in now.    

Atigun, a horse pegged as one that could provide an upset, closed fast to win his last start in the mud.

Neither Dullahan, the favorite, or Optimizer have run well in the muck.
