Self-Proclaimed “Gambling Addict” and Bad Boy Brendan Fevola Punted From Crown Casino
Australia has been home to some of the world's biggest and most passionate punters.
Australian AFL great Brendan "Punter" Fevola is one of Australia's most famous punters of all time (or former punters), depending upon what and who you believe.
Sacked Brisbane AFL players Brendan Fevola was requested to leave Crown Casino as the self confessed gambling addict played poker by himself. Yep, poker, not solitaire!
Crown spokesman Gary O'Neill says Fevola left of his own volition at around 10.30 am after speaking to the casino's responsible gaming liaison officers.
O'Neill stated Fevola who this week began training with VFL club Casey has never been banned from the casino.
He has been sacked from both Carlton and Brisbane and has admitted to alcohol and gambling problems arriving back in Melbourne this week after 66 days in rehab for alcohol and depression issues.
We wish 'Punter' well with his ongoing issues, and are hopeful for a full recovery.
Readers... er, punters, how did you like our report? Will Australia ever get to #1 position for gambling? Will 'Punter' win the battle? Tell us in the forum.
If you have a bet, please bet with your head, not over it, and for God's sake, have fun.
Fevola Behaving Badly in Recent Years….
On 8 March 2004, Fevola was involved in an incident at Crown Casino, though no charges were filed.
In 2006 Fevola assaulted a barman during a tour of Ireland in 2006 with the Australian team, and was sent back to Australia.
On March 2008, Fevola was fined $10,000 by the club and stood down from the leadership group after urinating on a window outside a Melbourne nightclub.
In September 2009, Fevola was fined $10,000 and banned from appearing on the Grand Final Footy Show after behaving inappropriately at the 2009 Brownlow Medal count.
In September 2010 it was announced that Queensland police had launched a formal investigation into claims that Fevola had flashed a woman at a Brisbane park. The Brisbane Lions Football Club suspended him indefinitely pending further investigations.
Early on 1 January 2011, New Year's Day, Fevola was arrested in Brisbane on charges of public nuisance and obstructing police. He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on 18 January. The Brisbane Lions Football Club has granted him indefinite leave.
