Steeler Nation means something.  It's the unofficial name of the most loyal fan base in the NFL today...and years past for that matter.  Nobody within the Steeler Nation will be betting on the Arizona Cardinals to win the 2009 Super Bowl...at least nobody will admit to doing so.

The name was coined by the late, great NFL Films narrator John Facenda in the 1975-76 NFL Films, Pittsburgh Steelers highlights film of that season titled; "Blueprint For Victory"  This is the same year the Steelers first headed to the Super Bowl.

Gambling911.com has taken a look at past Steelers Super Bowl betting lines and outcomes.

The Steelers have appeared in 6 Super Bowls, they have won 5 of them Straight Up.

For the Steelers Nation, a win is a win.  For Steelers bettors, a win is only a win if Pittsburgh can cover the line.

They first did so in 1975 as the -3 favorite verses Minnesota.  That year they won by a score of 16-6.  The Steelers won again in 1976 against the Dallas Cowboys, but they failed to beat the 7 point spread.   That was a 21-17 scoring affair.

Pittsburgh returned to the Super Bowl in 1979 and managed to cover a -3 ½ line in what turned out to be a nail biter.  The win was a mere 4 points against Dallas.

The next year, The Steelers again managed to cover a 10 ½ point line with a 12 point win against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Steelers Nation might have been stung by Pittsburgh's 17-27 loss to Dallas in 1996, but for sports bettors, the Steelers were winners that year.  They covered a -13 ½ line that year.

And the last time Pittsburgh was in a Super Bowl in 2006, they manhandled the Seattle Seahawks with a 21-10 win and easily covered the 4 point spread.

Pittsburgh is 5-1 in each of the Super Bowls they played in Straight Up and 5-1 Against The Spread.

As for the OVER/UNDER, the six Super Bowls Pittsburgh played in were split down the middle (3 Overs, 3 Unders).

Steelers Nation will want to get their favorite team at the best line possible in the 2009 Super Bowl. SBG Global has Pittsburgh with a line of -6 ½ (compared to -7 at a lot of other online sportsbooks).  Not only will you get a better value with the line, SBG Global also has some of the best cash bonuses in the business, beginning with a 30 percent cash bonus on your initial deposit.
