Takuma Sato Pays 16-1 Odds With Indy 500 Win
Takuma Sato paid out $1600 for every $100 bet to win this year’s Indy 500 race to become Japan’s first contender to do so.
Sato demonstrated why betting on NASCAR races can yield such a significant pay day.
His victory comes on a day when the favorite, Scott Dixon, found himself involved in a crash earlier in the race. Dixon was not injured.
“Unbelievable,” Sato said in victory circle. “Hélio is just a gentleman, and I knew I was racing against a real champion. When Hélio came up beside me with three laps to go, I decided this was the moment and I just had to go for it.”
