The only time Tiger Woods isn't favored to win a major golf tournament is when he's not playing in one.  The 2009 British Open is no different as Tiger Woods came in with 2/1 odds (found at Sportsbook.com).

That's actually still a good price considering Woods has gotten hot in a recent outing, specifically the AT&T National.

This was his third win of the year and follows a very un-Tiger-like performance at the US Open over two weeks ago.
"It was a long week, but I got the 'W,'" said Woods, who moved within five PGA Tour wins of Jack Nicklaus with the 68th of his career.
The AT&T National has helped stimulate betting odds on the British Open where Anthony Kim is suddenly ranked among the favorites to win after Woods at many online gambling websites, though Sportsbook.com was offering odds that would pay out $2500 for every $100 bet.

While the British Open is considered among the most bet on sporting events in the United Kingdom, it remains to be seen how much wagering action will take place on the event among US gamblers.

"There is an interest in golf betting," says Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com.  "Conversions overall were not that great with the US Open," she disclosed.

It was not immediately clear if that had anything to do with the current economic crisis.

"This year's British Open has plenty of value right on down from Tiger Woods," O'Brien said.  "One of the best lines was on Padraig Harrington who has won the last two British Opens."

He would pay out $3000 for every $100 bet at Sportsbook.com.

After some ups and downs since joining LIV Golf in late 2023, Rahm shot an impressive 4-under 67 in the third round on Saturday. This strong round put him tied for fifth place, just five shots behind the leader, Scottie Scheffler.
