Tiger Woods Players Championship Odds at 15-1

Tiger Woods Players Championship Odds

Considering how well Tiger Woods played at the US Masters just a few weeks ago, it’s hard to believe he is listed at 15-1 odds coming into Thursday’s start of the 2011 Players Championship Odds.

It’s not so much the issue of Woods personal affairs and subsequent downfall that have been so publicly chronicled, but rather his long term performance at the TPC Sawgrass.  Woods has not won here for 10 years now.

Two time Major champion and now NBC commentator Johnny Miller has come to Tiger Woods defense.

“I’m going to take the positive spin here. I really believe that if he has a good first round and plays a little bit like did at the British Open and sort of deals down and hits a long of stingers and just gets the ball in play ... he hasn’t lost his iron game. Nobody gives him that credit. He still is a good iron player. It’s just that other things aren’t working out quite as well.”

Another reason why Woods odds are the longest we have ever seen is due to injury concerns, primarily with his knees and achilles.  In fact, Woods was not officially set to play in the Players Championship until his confirmation on Tuesday.

"So I'm here playing," Woods said after a nine-hole practice.  "It didn't feel good on Sunday [at the Masters], that was tough.  I played through it. I had to. I was in the midst of competing and had to power through it, so I did. I was able to shut it down for a little bit and was able to take care of it."

Remember, you can bet on the 2011 Players Championship after each day’s play has completed or at the start of the next day’s play.  Odds will be updated accordingly
