Tiger Woods US Open Odds
Tiger Woods US Open odds varied across the board as we inched closer to the start of the event.
SBG Global continued to offer some of the best odds on Tiger at +150 for a payout potential of $150 on every $100 bet.
We've also seen his odds as short as -150, requiring a $150 bet just to win $100.
The U.S. Open is the only major he has failed to win in consecutive years, and a victory this week would make him only the seventh player to win back-to-back.
Woods went wire to wire in 2002 at Bethpage, opening with a 67 and expanding that lead to four shots going into the final round. No one got within two of him, although Mickelson made a spirited run on the back nine.
Mickelson's play will be a mystery this week. He decided only recently to play after disclosing his wife, Amy, had been diagnosed with breast cancer. He spent Tuesday morning - his 39th birthday - home in San Diego and was to fly to New York later in the day.
As for Woods?
"I like my chances in any major," he said.
And his chances are good following a strong showing at the June 7 Memorial in Dublin, Ohio, after driving the ball in 49 of 56 fairways.
"It was nice to play this well going into the U.S. Open," Woods said after the Memorial. "This is how you have to hit it in order to win U.S. Opens. Especially Bethpage. That golf course is as big as they come. You know, with the rough as deep, even with it graduated, it's super thick ... It's just one of those things where you have to hit the ball well all week. I did that in 2002."
Nearly half of all gamblers betting on the 2009 US Open will be placing their wagers on Tiger Woods.
"The value is there," says Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com. "Any time you can get Tiger Woods at better than even odds, that is value."
