Vegas Odds on Nunes vs. Rousey Fight Remain Steady: Most Action on Nunes

Vegas odds reflect a competitive matchup on tap with the Nunes vs. Rousey fight Friday night.  Ronda Rousey was hovering between a -160 to -165 favorite across the board with underdog Amanda Nunes set at between +140 and +145.   LIVE IN-PLAY WAGERING on UFC 207 will be available right up to the end of the bout.

According to the Vegas books, however, it is Nunes seeing most of the action as Rousey is no longer viewed as a “sure bet”.

“The action we’re getting is all Nunes,” Golden Nugget sports book director Tony Miller told the Las Vegas Review Journal. “We opened up at minus-155 on Rousey, and we’re currently at minus-135. We got hit on Nunes pretty good. They took plus-135, they took plus-125, and now they’re taking plus-115.

“I’ve got kibbles and bits on Ronda. All the big bets are on Nunes.”

Miller also revealed that his book won a lot of money on Holly Holm when she defeated Rousey her last fight.

75 percent of the tickets being written ahead of Friday night’s UFC 207 were going towards Nunes.  William Hill’s sportsbook operation in Vegas was seeing similar results with around 64 percent of the tickets being written in favor of the UFC 207 underdog.

“I don’t know if they’re betting on her or against Ronda,” Miller said.

Some of the fight experts were also siding with Nunes.  ESPN.com’s Brett Okomato suggests that the style edge goes towards Rousey but this is a favorable matchup for Nunes.

“Rousey showed no quit in the loss to Holm and an ability to take a punch, but she was also fairly traumatized by the knockout. How will she respond if Nunes lands a big shot early?”

Okamoto predicts a 2nd round TKO by Nunes, the payout 11/8 or $11 for every $8 bet.

"Early indicators are that this could be one of the most wagered on UFC fights ever," suggests Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.
