Steve Scalise Favorite to Become Next House Speaker: Now Withdraws
Well...the calamitous political climate that clouds the United States Government just got a lot more chaotic. It got worse Thursday night with favorite Steve Scalise withdrawing.
The "Battle for the Gavel" is back on as Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker of the House in a historic moment on Capitol Hill this afternoon.
Our diverse and non-stop shop, which offers wagering not only on sports but hundreds of global political markets, is the only book in the world that already has odds for who will be voted in as the next speaker for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Patrick McHenry, the interim speaker, had the third best odds after Jim Jordan, though the Ohio congressman failed to muster up enough votes to get him past Steve Scalise.
The heavy favorite, according to the oddsmakers, was Steve Scalise. And those odd have gotten even shorter since last week when he was listed at just EVEN odds. Thursday morning he sat at -450, which is around the same price as Logan Paul has to beat Dillon Danis this upcoming weekend.
