Study Shows Mahomes Ranks Third in GOAT Debate
While Patrick Mahomes has racked up impressive achievements in his young career, a recent study suggests most NFL fans aren't ready to crown him the GOAT just yet.
The study was conducted by the marketing team at BetOnline.ag, which compiled and analyzed more than 260,000 tweets, hashtags and direct keyword phrases since Super Bowl LVIII ended about which NFL quarterback is the greatest of all time.
For example, any tweet mentioning Tom Brady that also had the keyword of "GOAT" or hashtag #GOAT was included in the study. All of the mentions from each of the 50 states were tallied up and the QB who had the most then "won" that respective state.
Mahomes completed 34 of 46 passes for 333 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the 25-22 overtime Super Bowl win over the 49ers. He added nine rushes for 66 yards.
There was certainly increased activity in the GOAT debate after Mahomes locked up his third championship in the past five years. But, alas, Brady still reigns supreme, and Mahomes isn't even second on the list as you can see from the map.
Here's the state-by-state breakdown:
Tom Brady - 27 states
Peyton Manning - 10 states
Patrick Mahomes - 7 states
Joe Montana - 2 states
John Elway - 2 states
Aaron Rodgers - 1 state
Drew Brees - 1 state
