Social media sportsbooks are a thing.  Just ask the App Marketing Assassin, James McLoughlin.  He knows a thing or two about what's going on in this sector.

"In the last 30 days, there have been ~200K sweepstakes sportsbook downloads, with new competitors each week," McLoughlin reported on his LinkedIn Page.

He calls it "The Fliff Effect".

Fliff is one of the original social media sportsbooks.  The app combines aspects of sports betting with sweepstakes-style gaming.

And even the most hardcore high stakes sports bettors are using the app.

Last month, Gambling911.com reported on Redditors expressing how Daily Fantasy Sports operator Fliff had apparently been confiscating some accounts after accusing players of multi-accounting.

Then we got word of a group of high stakes sports gamblers meeting in Vegas.

The hot topic of discussion?

Fliff allegedly confiscating player accounts.  Our friend Vegas Horse Pools had Myself and Prime Sportsbook's Adam Bjorn on to discuss this matter (and other things).

Fliff, for its part, hasn't exactly been shy about closing accounts.  They claim incidents of multi-accounting and other violations of site policy.

Regardless, the "Fliff Effect" is taking hold it seems.

Per McLoughlin's feed:

Fliff Inc pioneered the social sportsbook space by circumventing the US legal system better than Saquon Barkley circumvents defenders (I could have used another running back example here

No deposits. No state licenses. Just sweepstakes loopholes & slick product.

It's a surging sub-category.

And here's the download data from the last 30 days
Rebet, Inc. next best, but down 18.8%
Thrillzz strong in 3rd
ProphetX up 32.5% and climbing each week

Sportzino launching and up 158%
Novig up 25.4%
SportsMillions is live with two products
Kickr launched
Onyx Odds are live without an app

This is Fliff's ripple effect. And I think we'll see another handful of competitors before the start of football.

Our friends at Sportzino we know are currently attending this week's SBC Americas and Gambling911.com will be there as well.
