The Tarik Skubal trade domino fell late Saturday night, and the recipient of the deal came as no surprise.
The Dodgers were heavy favorites to land baseball's best pitcher, and now their odds to repeat as division, pennant and World Series champs have shortened.
As first reported by ESPN late Saturday evening, the back-to-back American Cy Young winner with the Tigers is heading to play for the two-time defending World Series champions in a deal sending three prospects to the Motor City.
The Tigers are shipping Skubal to Los Angeles in exchange for outfielder Zyhir Hope and right-hand relievers Brady Smith and River Ryan. MLB currently ranks the 21-year-old Hope as the No. 25 prospect in baseball.
There was no impact on Detroit's futures odds as the loss of Skubal was already baked in.
World Series Changes (per SportsBetting.ag):
- Dodgers go from +200 to +150
- Yankees go from +500 to +550
- Brewers go from +750 to +800
- Braves go from +950 to +1000
In terms of NL Pennant, Los Angeles' odds went from +110 to -120. There are no changes in the NL West odds.
