Travers Stakes Payout Odds 2026: Napoleon Solo, The Puma, Baby Vino

Napoleon Solo promises a payout of $800 for every $100 bet.  He comes into this race having won the Preakness Stakes.

“I would anticipate the plan would be for him to be on the lead,” trainer Chad Summers said of his strategy for Napoleon Solo. “I know he is the fastest horse in the race. It's just a matter of how everything works out. He is super sharp right now; he is going to be ready to go.”

He set the pace in the GI Haskell Stakes before getting caught by Baby Vino (Vino Rosso), who is also running in the Travers and promises a payout of $1000 for every $100 bet.

The Puma also had credentials coming into Saturday's Travers Stakes, having won the prestigious Tampa Bay Derby while finishing third at The Haskell.

Be careful here with all three however.

Historically, the Haskell has not been the best recent route into the Travers.

The numbers are pretty striking:

  • No horse has won both the Haskell and Travers since Point Given in 2001.
  • The last horse who ran in the Haskell and subsequently won the Travers was Keen Ice in 2015.
  • Horses coming out of a New York prep have won 12 of the last 16 Travers.
  • Seven of those winners came directly from the Jim Dandy at Saratoga

The Travers Stakes is an American Grade I Thoroughbred horse race held at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York that features close to a $1.3 million purse.

The race is nicknamed the "Midsummer Derby" and is the third-ranked race for American three-year-olds according to international classifications, behind only the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes.  As such, oddsmakers were anticipating heavy betting action on Saturday.

First held in 1864, it is the oldest stakes race in the United States specifically for 3-year-olds.
