Fugitive Sports Betting Influencer Vegas Dave Could Be Extradited From Bora Bora

OAKLAND PARK, Fla (Gambling911.com)- A flashy sports betting influencer — known for his Birkin bag collections and mansions — was slapped with an arrest warrant from Las Vegas judge Joe Hardy Thursday after he no-showed a civil court proceeding, according to court records.

Oancea was hit with a $30.2 million judgment in 2025 after litigation involving Cabo Platinum. The underlying dispute included allegations that Oancea interfered with or canceled confirmed vacation-rental bookings involving his properties and made damaging statements about the company. Oancea appealed the judgment.

The situation subsequently became a fight over collecting the judgment and Oancea's compliance with court orders.

Thursday's no show now includes a strong likelihood that Oancea will serve time in addition to having to pay back millions of dollars.

He was to be arrested on a no-bail bench warrant for noncompliance with a contempt order.

The Vegas Dave saga is anything but Bora boring.

Oancea offered some clues as to where he might be heading... albeit, the whole thing could be a ruse to throw off authorities.

Oancea reportedly posted video of himself departing on a private jet for Bora Bora prior to his scheduled court appearance.

The social media caption allegedly read "“Wheels up  #borabora.”

Gambling911.com could not find evidence to suggest Vegas Dave was required to relinquish his passport.

But Bora Bora is not an ideal destination for Dave.

Bora Bora is part of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France.  The U.S. State Department treats French Polynesia as French territory for judicial-assistance purposes.  The United States and France to have an extradition treaty in place.

While leaving the United States could make the situation substantially more serious for Oancea, though international extradition is not automatic.

International extradition normally requires a treaty relationship and an offense that qualifies under that treaty.  Whether Vegas Dave's antics qualify for an extraditable offense could be questionable.

The Justice Department specifically notes that extraditability depends on factors including the country involved, citizenship, the offense charged and whether the conduct meets the treaty's requirements. Modern treaties commonly require conduct sufficiently serious to constitute a criminal offense in both countries.

As such, extradition solely to enforce a civil contempt order or collect a $30 million civil judgment would be much less straightforward than extradition for a serious criminal charge.

The international fugitive, assuming he indeed left the U.S., is a federal offense with the likelihood of another five years tacked onto whatever sentence he would already have gotten prior to his failure to appear in court.
