Vegas The Story of Sin City Premiers on CNN
"Vegas: The Story of Sin City" looks quite good based on the sneak peaks offered up throughout the day Sunday. The multi-week series debuted Sunday night (February 25) on CNN at 10 pm ET.
Earlier in the evening, another network, Oxygen, debuted its new slightly darker Vegas series, "Sin City Murders".
The CNN documentary is described as "an expansive journey into the heart and history of one of America’s most beloved and notorious cities".
In one of the clips a former showgirl describes how a dealer was once caught cheating. The man was brought into a back room and had all his fingers chopped off.
"He never cheated again after that," she relays.
Through interviews with notable entertainers like Paul Anka and Wayne Newton, former showgirls, journalists, and cultural historians, the city’s evolution into an entertainment mecca is unraveled, revealing the role Las Vegas played in the most important movements and moments shaping American culture as we know it today.
“‘Vegas’ is another of our acclaimed CNN Original Series that brings new life and color to major stories and events in our collective history,” said Amy Entelis, executive vice president of talent, CNN Originals, and creative development for CNN Worldwide. “From the 1930s through today and from its Golden Age to its reinvention, this is the definitive telling of the story of Las Vegas and showcases the city’s everlasting ability to reflect and refract the American identity.”
The series will stream live for pay TV subscribers via CNN.com, CNN connected TV and mobile apps on Sunday, February 25. It wasn't immediately clear if "Vegas: The Story of Sin City" will stream on Max, which is part of CNN's parent company, Warner Discovery.
The CNN Originals group develops, produces and acquires original, long-form unscripted programming for CNN Worldwide.
The series is produced by Bungalow Media + Entertainment. Founded in 2013 by CEO Robert Friedman, Bungalow Media + Entertainment is an Emmy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated integrated entertainment company that develops, produces and distributes content across all media platforms.
