The Minnesota Vikings got off to a slow start this season but now sit at 4-4 after winning four of their last five.

But now it could all be crumbling down.

The Minnesota Vikings may have lost starting quarterback Kirk Cousins to a season-ending right Achilles tear.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Cousins tore an Achilles, an outcome the team said it would not confirm until putting him through additional testing.

Cousins currently leads the NFL in touchdown passes (16) and is ranked second in passing yards (2,057). In their game against Green Bay, Cousins had completed 23 of 31 passes for 274 yards and two more touchdown passes prior to suffering his injury, which came with 9 minutes, 50 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Presuming a full tear, Cousins would miss the remainder of this season.

Jaren Hall finished Sunday's game and will likely start moving forward.

From Kevin Seifert of ESPN:

Hall shows a lot of patience in the pocket when reading out progressions, always seeming really comfortable and in control when scanning defensive coverages. He was impressive in the lead-up to the 2023 draft with his deep touch down the field. Hall has a slightly above-average arm and complements that well with solid ball placement to third level of the defense.

If Hall takes over, he's capable of managing the offense. The Vikings have explosive pass-catchers in WR Justin Jefferson (injured), TE T.J. Hockenson and WR Jordan Addison. So simply keeping the offense on schedule and avoiding turnovers will be keys, especially since he doesn't stand out as a runner.
