What Are The Odds to Win - Men's Basketball - Paris Olympics
Now that the 12-man roster has been finalized, let’s take a fresh look at the latest Olympics numbers.
Team USA is still the odds-on favorite at 2/5 (-250), with the next-closest competitor being Serbia at 4/1.
Our book is reporting that more than 90% of the action up to this point has been on the U.S., but that France and Serbia are also being bet.
While Team USA won the 2020 Games (played in 2021 due to the pandemic), they didn’t win the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. In fact, they didn’t even medal, finishing fourth.
One of the main issues with that team was the only true center was rookie Walker Kessler. Enter, Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis!
Here are some interesting factoids:
- This is Steph Curry (age 36) and Kawhi Leonard’s (will be 33 for the Olympics) first time on the Olympic team.
- It is also the first for Joel Embiid (age 30). He was also being wooed by the French National Team.
- Tyrese Haliburton and Anthony Edwards are also first-timers. They were the two best players on the 2023 losing World Cup team.
- Kevin Durant (12, 16, 21, 24) is playing on his fourth Olympic Team. He is also the Men’s USA’s all-time Olympic scorer. With 52 points, he will pass Lisa Leslie for most in US history.
- As is LeBron James (04, 08, 12, 24). 12 years apart from last Olympic games has to be a record. I’m too lazy to do the research.
- Anthony Davis has the same 12-year layoff. He played on the 2012 team and is on the 2024 roster.
- The other four players all played on the 2021 team and are making their second Olympic appearance.
a) Bam Adebayo
b) Devin Booker
c) Jayson Tatum
d) Jrue Holiday
