Oddsmakers at BetOnline have the California Golden Bears listed with a total of 5.5 regular season wins, OVER/UNDER.  Both are priced at -115.

They had 5 last season while covering in 7 and 7 in the last full season with a .500 record Against The Spread.

Only eight of the 22 players who started Cal's final game a year ago are back from that 5–7 squad.

The Bears did lose five games by a touchdown or less, hence the seven covers.

"We have very high expectations for ourselves. You look at last season and what we did well and where we felt short, we've got to win in the margins," Bears head coach Justin Wilcox says. "Can we find ways coaching and playing as a team to make up those margins?"

Keep in mind that most of those close games were against mediocre-to-bad teams.  Let's stress again, only eight starters return to a team that just wasn't very good in the first place.

There are just five games against teams that were bowl eligible.

One thing they won't do is beat Notre Dame.  They're 0–4 all-time record against the Fighting Irish and will be playing in South Bend on Sept. 17.

Outside of the Irish, the start of this season would yield a 5-1 record if only Cal were expecting to improve over last year, and we just don't see it.  The final weeks are likely to be brutal.

An UNDER 5.5 here seems like the best way to go.

49ers vs. Packers Betting Preview November 24

The 49ers are very much in the thick of things within the NFC West, as are all teams in this division.  Arizona leads 6-5 while the 49ers, Seahawks and Rams each own a record of 5-5.

Titans vs. Texans Betting Preview November 24

The Titans have won just two games this season, but even worse, they've covered in only one.  Tennessee prepares to take on the Houston Texans, a team that is 7-4 Straight Up and at the .500 mark Against The Spread.
