The Kentucky Wildcats are favored to win 8 regular season games priced at -115 for both the OVER and UNDER, according to BetOnline.  Their odds of winning the College Football Playoffs Championship were at 150-1 as a result of playing in the SEC.

Kentucky played above expectations last season, winning nine games and covering the spread in eight.

Few outside the Kentucky locker room will pick the Wildcats to win the SEC East championship in 2022, however.  They haven't even reached the conference championship game since 1992.

Will Levis is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft and he returns as quarterback for the Wildcats this season.

“I came back to win,” said super-senior linebacker DeAndre Square. “I really want this SEC championship. A lot of the guys do, too. That’s the focus. We have player-led meetings all the time, and I always say if your mind is not on the SEC championship, don’t even come to practice. That’s the standard.”

What to Know Before You Bet Kentucky Wildcats Futures

  • There are five returning starters on the offense and five on the defense.
  • The line lost standouts left tackle Dare Rosenthal, center Luke Fortner and right tackle Darian Kinnard.
  • While there have been some key losses on both sides of the ball, Will Levis return at QB is key to the success of Kentucky in 2022.
  • Levis accounted for 33 overall scores and threw for 2,812 yards last season.
  • Some bad news, however, as Levis will be working under a new play-caller (Rich Scangarello) following Liam Coen's departure for the NFL.
  • Coen helped the Wildcats average 32.3 points a game last fall.
  • Key incoming transfers include the likes of WR Javon Baker, WR Tayvion Robinson, OL Tashawn Manning, DL Darrion Henry-Young, DB Zion Childress, DB Keidron Smith, DB Jordan Robinson.
  • The Wildcats have won 10 games in two out of the last four years.
  • Kentucky surrendered only 21.7 points a contest last season.
  • Key games include at Florida, at Ole Miss, at Tennessee, Georgia and Louisville.
  • Using last year's power ratings, Kentucky should be a -3 to -4 favorite in Florida but a dog in Mississippi.
  • Using last year's power ratings, Kentucky would likely be a -1 point favorite in Tennessee but the Vols are expected to be dramatically better this season.
  • On paper, at least, the Wildcats should have wins at home against Miami OH, Youngstown State, Northern Illinois, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Georgia.  That's seven wins right there.
  • On the road, Kentucky should beat Missouri for eight wins.
  • The wildcard is Florida, which the Wildcats should be able to take care of for the OVER 8 regular season wins in 2022.
