The NC State Wolfpack were favored to win OVER 8.5 regular season games in 2022 at -150.  They were were coming in at around 150-1 odds to win the College Football Playoff Championship.

NC State fell short of reigning supreme last season as they failed to even make an appearance in the ACC Championship, this despite their 9-3 record Straight Up to finish the season.  They were also 7-5 Against The Spread.

NC State coach Dave Doeren is ready for the 2022 season to reach the top. N.C. State hasn’t won an ACC championship in football since 1979.

“I want to bring it to them, man,” Doeren said about ending the drought. “I want to help ease that pain. It’s been 42 years in football. I understand, it’s a long time as a fan.”

He added: "They'll be motivated," Doeren says. "Our guys have a chip on their shoulder. We didn't get to the ACC Championship [Game]. We have a lot to prove still."

Could this be the year?

  • East Carolina may be a concern in Week 1, but Gambling911.com has NC State as a -12 point road favorite.
  • The ACC opener at Clemson should have the Wolfpacks as a +6 to +7 road dog, so this one would be checked off as an expected loss early on.
  • Any other losses, even Wake Forest, would have to be considered an upset by the opponent.  Hence the reason we will be on the OVER 8.5 here.
