The team with the second shortest odds to win the 2022 College Football Playoff Championship, the Ohio State Buckeyes, are favored to lose just one game or less this season.  The price on the OVER 10.5 was -225.

The big test comes in Week 1 against Notre Dame.

Both teams are gaining intel on the other weeks ahead of the marquee matchup, the best of Week 1.

The Buckeyes did land Tanner McCalister, whose final game playing for Oklahoma State was against Notre Dame.

Ohio State safety Ronnie Hickman said he and McCalister have rewatched that game tape a few times.

OSU coach Ryan Day spoke highly of the Fighting Irish’s prestigious identity during MediaDays.

“Part of the first game is just the lead up to it and making sure that you’re preparing but you’re not overdoing it as well, because you’ve got to go play,” Day said, “That’s going to be an electric atmosphere. Notre Dame has unbelievable tradition — just unbelievable.”

Day said of this season, 'We expect a top-10 defense'.

Accomplished assistant Jim Knowles was brought in to run the Buckeyes defense and get that done.

“You've got to stop the run,” Day said, “and certainly there was a couple of games where it didn’t get done. We've got to do that. A lot of that has to do with technique. A lot of that has to do with scheme. And with toughness.”

The other expectation is to "win them all" as far as games go this season, including the Week 1 showdown against Notre Dame.

Day made special reference to the heart breaking loss to arch rival Michigan last season.

"We experienced what it's like to lose that rivalry game, and we never want to feel it again."

Gamblng911.com expects Ohio State to go OVER the 10.5 this season and maybe even with the Championship at +350 odds.

What to Know Before You Bet Ohio State Buckeyes Futures

  • Gambling911.com has Ohio State as an 8-point favorite against Notre Dame in Week 1.
  • The Buckeyes will host most of the tougher teams like Michigan and Wisconsin but play Penn State on the road.
  • Gambling911.com has an early line of Buckeyes -9 for that one.
  • A game at Michigan State will also likely result in Ohio State as a single-digit favorite.
  • The Buckeyes are 34-15 all time against Michigan State and are currently on a five-game winning streak against the Spartans.
  • Two of the most painful losses in Ohio State football history came at the hands of the Spartans, and those prevented the Buckeyes from playing for a national title, once in 2015 and before that in 1998.
  • Quarterback C.J. Stroud and wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba will form one of the best pass-and-catch combos in the nation.
  • Stroud is already being discussed as a likelyHeisman Trophy recipient this season.
  • In 2021, Stroud excelled with both accuracy (71.9 completion percentage) and big plays (4,435 yards and 44 touchdowns) all while having a mere six interceptions.
  • Ohio State sophomore DB Denzel Burke could be in for a breakout season in 2022, having finished last season with 37 total tackles (28 solo) with 12 passes defended, one interception and one touchdown.
