The Virginia Tech Hokies are favored to win UNDER 6.5 regular season games in 2022.

Virginia Tech opted to hire Penn State defensive coordinator Brent Pry, who spent 30 years as an assistant, in hopes of getting this team back on track.

"I wasn't sure if I'd ever step out and do my own thing," says the 52-year-old Pry. "And it took this place to do it."

He, in turn, hired offensive line coach Joe Rudolph away from Wisconsin in order to obtain his more "old school" vision of the offense.

Marshall transfer Grant Wells (5,623 yards, 34 TDs, 22 INTs in two years) is the likely starting quarterback over South Carolina transfer Jason Brown.

The receiving corps will be led by Temple transfer Jadan Blue, veteran Kaleb Smith as well as Da'Wain Lofton and Jaylen Jones.  Tight end Nick Gallo and Connor Blumrick should improve the Hokies passing game.

The Hokies have the potential to go OVER the 6.5 total based on their schedule.

At Old Dominion and Wofford in September, and Georgia Tech, at Duke, at Liberty, and even Virginia – in November, would result in six victories.  Even winning five of the six would be seen as success.

Boston College and West Virginia are two more winnable games.

There is no quick fix in sight to get this team past seven wins.  The roster requires more talent.  Six wins and a bowl game would be considered an accomplishment.  But last year's Hokies finished 6-6 and we believe this squad could be an improvement along with the navigable schedule.  We'll take the OVER 6.5 here.
