SportsBookReview.com has for decades been the go-to site for everything sportsbooks and sports betting, especially when it applied to that website's innovative grading system (A to F).
Even when they sold (out) to the U.S. regulated sector, the forum remained, albeit all those solid offshore sportsbooks the likes of Bookmaker and Heritage suddenly went from being graded with an A+ to an F in favor of the U.S. state-regulated sportsbooks.
Well, it was good while it lasted.
But let's face it, nobody went to SportsBookReview.com to read the latest news stories or DraftKings financials.
They went there to interact with fellow sports gamblers and complain about payouts and bonus bait and switch schemes.
This all occurred via the uber popular SportsBookReview forum. Full disclosure, we loved the site (pre-sale)....We somewhat liked the site thereafter.
And now it's main platform is gone.
There's no link found for the forum on its main page.
Instead, we had to search for it on Google and received the following message:
"Sportsbook Review Forum will be back up again shortly. We apologize for the inconvenience and are seeking to resolve this as soon as possible."
So it may - or may not - be back.
Just like with Reddit, SBRForum dominated search engines like Google for years. Type in any search term pertaining to sportsbooks or sports betting and SportsBookReview's forum appeared at the top of the rankings.
That's no longer the case and we're not entirely sure what the future plans are here.
SportsBookReview really didn't have to take that hard pivot. The forum was not obliged to focus exclusively on U.S. state regulated gambling sites. The community long dictated what would become the topics of the day. Often times a single post might generate over a dozen pages.
Posting forums are not always cost efficient these days. We get that. But this forum was far from dead.
The topics were mostly informative. Case in point, Bookmaker's recent acquisition of BetDSI offered an opportunity for customers to share their experience in regard to the transition, whether good or bad. Nothing was censored either.... at least not when it come to the offshores.
That thread no longer exists at SportsBookReview.
Is it the end of an era?
Some would argue the end came back in 2018 when the site was sold. But the buyers still had a good thing.
Abolishing the posting forum is akin to Reddit removing its forum social media forum platform or X eliminating real-time public conversation at a global scale.
Perhaps a bigger and better forum is coming in the future?
We wouldn't count on it, but anything is possible...maybe.
