Although it finished fourth in the powerful SEC, South Carolina figures to need a lengthy run in the conference tournament to gain any at-large consideration for the NCAA Tournament. The fourth-seeded Gamecocks begin what they hope will be a fruitful weekend with a matchup against No. 5 seed Auburn in the quarterfinals of the SEC tourney Friday in Nashville, Tenn.

"We've lost games. I understand. I'm not here to say we belong," South Carolina coach Frank Martin told reporters after Saturday's 66-46 win over Georgia in the regular-season finale. "But I'm here to say put ours against anybody on the bubble."

The Tigers picked up their first conference tournament victory in four years with an 81-71 win over Missouri in the second round Thursday. Auburn, ranked 24th in the country, has won five games in a row - tied for a season high - and seven of its last eight.
