These are somber times in the Aloha State but college football should bring some degree of normalcy.

This year's Rainbow Warriors team will unfortunately show little in the way of any improvement over last year as the oddsmakers have them slated to win no more than 4 regular season games.

Week 1 vs. Stanford

Hawaii comes in as the +3 home dog after opening at +7 versus Stanford.

The Cardinal have won nine of the last 12 season openers and there's more bad news for the Rainbow Warriors.  Hawaii has not won a game against a Power 5 opponent since a 31-28 win over Oregon State in Honolulu on Sept. 7, 2019.

Stanford’s revamped tempo offense will look to establish a rhythm against a Hawaii defense that limited Vanderbilt to fewer than 300 total yards.

Despite almost every player leaving prior to last season, Hawaii still managed to have some close calls last season.

CollegeFootballNews.com observed ahead of this new season that "the line is undergoing an overhaul again, but Eliki Tanuvasa is a strong center to work around, the size is there, 300-pound Houston transfer Josh Atkins will play a big role, and because of the style the pass protection wasn’t that bad".

Hawaii already played in Week 0. QB Brayden Schager threw for a career-high 351 yards and three touchdowns in the season-opening loss at Vanderbilt last week. The junior completed a career-best 27 of his 35 pass attempts and is expected to make his 11th consecutive start
