Commercials for the Draftkings sports betting app will be prevalent in the New York City area, and this includes a wide swath of Southwest Connecticut.  Too bad they won't be able to use it.  For now, Connecticut residents and vistitors can only access sports betting sites via internationally-licensed websites, some of which have been in business for nearly 20 years....so not a bad deal.

Online sports betting in New Jersey is legal and available via three companies now offering apps, however, geo-location technology prevents wagering access beyond the Garden State's borders.  As such, commercials are appearing on the New York affiliates that reach portions of CT.

Millions of folks will be exposed to the Draftkings commericals but won't be able to bet with them as a result.

You might be better off.  Draftkings and similar apps will report your information to the IRS.  Offshore gambling site offer up to $2500 in bonus money and do not report winnings to the IRS. Sports bettors should always file their taxes.
