DUTCH EREDIVISIE—ODDS TO WIN 2019-2020

BET AZ ALKMAAR +2200 TO WIN DUTCH EREDIVISIE 2019-2020

Ajax and PSV have been the dominant sides in the Eredivisie for the past decade winning 9 of 10 titles between them.  Ajax is currently at the top of the table but their six point advantage over AZ Alkmaar is far from insurmountable.  AZ is 9-2-2 on the season scoring 31 and conceding 8 which compares favorably to the Ajax line of 11-2-0 43 for and 9 conceded.  With nearly 2/3 of the season remaining anything can happen and that includes a downturn in Ajax’s form.  The price on AZ is just too good to pass up—a team just 6 points back is a gift at +2200.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE—RELEGATION 2019-2020

BET SOUTHAMPTON +150 TO BE RELEGATED

The bottom three teams in the Premier League get relegated and right now Norwich City is at the bottom of the barrel with 7 points, just behind Southampton and Watford with 8 points apiece.  Norwich isn’t of much interest at the moment given their -400 price.  A lucky win could move them out of relegation danger and given that reality the price is just too high.  Watford is the #2 choice to be relegated at -110 but the Hornets have been playing better of late—they got their first Premiership win of the season last week but have lost only 1 of their last 5.  That’s a pretty scrappy performance at this level of competition and if they can continue that sort of effort they’ll likely pull themselves out of relegation danger sooner or later.  The other team with 8 points is Southampton and there’s not been any real sign of life from the team.  They’re winless in 7 straight in all competitions with 6 losses by a combined margin of 22-5.  The big blow during that stretch was a 9-0 pasting by Leicester City which ranks among the most lopsided defeats in English Premier League history.  The effort just isn’t there on a regular basis for Southampton which is why they’re a better candidate for relegation than the hard trying Watford side.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE—TO FINISH TOP 4 2019-2020

BET LEICESTER CITY -170 TO FINISH TOP 4 2019-2020

The top choice in this BetOnline.ag market is Chelsea and after a slow start they’ve performed remarkably in Frank Lampard’s first year at the managerial helm.  The better bet, however, is Leicester City which has an identical 8-2-2 record and has not only performed better on the defensive end but has scored more goals than The Blues.  Leicester City has 29 for and 8 conceded compared to Chelsea’s 27 for and 17 conceded.  That gives them a +21 differential compared to Chelsea's +10 differential.  Leicester’s form is nearly as good as Chelsea with a 4-0-1 record in their last 5 compared to a 5-0-0 run for Chelsea.  Leicester City’s stat line is nearly as good as Manchester City which isn’t even listed in this market due to the perception that they’ll eventually right the ship and challenge Liverpool for the top of the table.  The reality is that Liverpool might have left the rest of the competition in the dust with their 8 point advantage and no sign of a downturn.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE—TO FINISH TOP 6 2019-2020

BET WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS +600 TO FINISH TOP 6 2019-2020
BET SHEFFIELD UNITED +2000 TO FINISH TOP 6 2019-2020

Now this is a strange market. Chelsea and Leicester City are the top two betting interests priced at -2000 and -1250 respectively.  No problem there.  The third choice, however, is Tottenham Hotspur at -250 despite the fact that Spurs are winless in their last five Premiership fixtures with a record of 0-3-2 and mired in 14th place on the table.  They’ve won only 4 of 16 in all competitions with two of those coming against overmatched Serbian side Crvenda Zvezda in Champions League play.  If you want to use the Champions League as a metric a sound thrashing by Bayern Munich 7-2 on their own field might be more indicative of where the Spurs are at the moment.  Sheffield United might not be a dominating side but they’re unbeaten in their last 5 in Premiership play which includes a 1-0 win over Arsenal.  They’re currently tied with Arsenal at 17 points though a superior differential has them at #5 on the table. They’ve shown a knack for scrapping out draws and that will keep them in good shape as the season progresses.  With the top 4 of the table opening more and more distance from the pack the edge will go to teams that view a top 6 as an accomplishment and both Sheffield United and Wolves both fit the bill.  Teams like Arsenal and Manchester United consider anything short of a top four placing a disappointment and that could show in their effort as the season drags on.  Wolves are currently in 8th place tied with Manchester United and Bournemouth.  The Wanderers have only 1 loss in 12 in all competitions and that came to Aston Villa in League Cup play.  They are unbeaten in 7 in Premier League play and dating back to last season have only three losses in their last 17 Premiership fixtures.

Xavier Worthy = Tyreek Hill 2.0?  Perhaps, and if that comes to fruition at any point in the future, the Bills only have themselves to blame.

J.J. McCarthy Drafted Number 3 Odds to Patriots

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
