Pujols Gets No Love From Sports Bettors in Home Run Derby
Kyle Schwarber briefly opened as the favorite for this year's Home Run Derby (Thursday night), but by Friday morning Pete "Polar Bear" Alonso was back in the driver's seat. And Albert Pujols? Well he's sitting at +2200 odds. In other words, Pujois pays out $220 for every $10 bet to win.
The Cardinals first baseman moved into third place alone on the career extra-base hits list last week.
Pujols moved past Stan Musial with his 1,378th extra-base hit and is only 42 behind Stan The Man at 6,134 for second place all-time. There probably won't be any catching Henry Aaron, who remains too far out of reach at 6,856.
Pujols has had the least amount of money wagered on him, with just 3.9% of the handle on the future Hall of Fame player.
Alonso is currently listed with +175 odds at SportsBetting.ag. His initial odds were +400.
