A full night of action is on tap for UFC 265: Lewis vs. Gane with 13 fights scheduled for Saturday, August 7 at Toyota Center in Houston. A bout between Derrick Lewis and undefeated Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title headlines the ticket and it’s sure to be an explosive affair with plenty of betting available courtesy of Bookmaker here.

Lewis (25-7) has punched his way to contender status boasting the most knockouts of any heavyweight fighter in the UFC. He’s coming off a KO of Curtis Blaydes in his most recent fight and is one of a handful of fighters to defeat current heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou. Lewis fought for the heavyweight strap back in 2018 losing to Daniel Cormier by submission.

Gane (9-0) is a chiseled beast with an assortment of weapons. Positioned as a whopping -365 favorite, there isn’t much value on Gane. However, his methodical approach makes wagering on alternate markets a smarter play. While both fighters pack a punch they can also take blows. There is a good chance this fight goes the distance with plus odds on OVER 4.5 rounds.

Former featherweight champ Jose Aldo (29-7) looks to continue his surge in the bantamweight division with a scrap against Pedro Munhoz (19-5) in the co-main event. After losing his first two fights since switching weight classes, Aldo looked like a former champ displaying his signature grappling style in a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera last December. While he’s been positioned among the top-10 in the division for a while, Munhoz has yet to snare the big ticket victory that would elevate him in the pecking order. Beating Aldo would be step in the right direction.

The most intriguing fight of the night might be the welterweight battle between contenders Michael Chiesa (18-4) and Vicente Luque (20-7-1). Both are riding multiple fight winning streaks with the winner is put squarely in the crosshairs of a championship opportunity. Chiesa has four straight wins since moving to the 170-pound class, most recently earning a decision over Neil Magny and is positioned as a negative odds underdog. Luque has three straight stoppage wins and has a dozen finishes in his last 15 bouts.

Derrick Lewis (25-7, 20 KOs, 1 SUB) vs. Ciryl Gane (9-0, 3 KOs, 3 SUBs)
This certainly has all the elements for a Fight of the Night winner. Lewis is a KO artist who relies on his powerful fists to end opponents. That was clearly evident in his last fight when he stopped Blaydes with one punch despite getting outstruck 28-7. He’s also fought stronger competition over his career giving him an edge in that department. But his game isn’t as diverse which is why Gane is a big and deserving favorite. Gane can wrestle, kick and punch with the best heavyweights and is a more skilled fighter. While he gives up nearly 20 pounds in this fight, Gane has the longer reach, which he’ll use to his advantage. Avoiding the heavy fists of Lewis is paramount to winning this fight. Gane delivers a high percentage of significant strikes and is adept at avoiding them. He’ll pick and choose his spots to attack with his methodical style making this one a good bet to go the distance.

UFC Pick: Ciryl Gane / Decision
