2011 Oscar Betting Odds

Now that the Super Bowl is over, it’s time to start thinking 2011 Oscar Betting.  The awards ceremony has routinely come in as the 3rd biggest single day betting event of the year after the Super Bowl and Kentucky Derby, based on Gambling911.com research.  It is the most wagered on nonsporting event after the US Presidential race.

While the volume of gamblers is substantial, individual bets tend to be much smaller than those placed during the Super Bowl and Derby.  This is primarily due to maximum amounts allowed (typically $500 for each category) and the steep prices often tied to a number of categories.  Colin Firth, for example, would require a $220 bet just to win $10 (the $220 does have a 98 percent chance of being refunded, however, at Bookmaker.com based on those odds).

The Orlando Sentinel has broken it all down for us (these odds are courtesy of Bookmaker.com):
