Bookies Cash in on Bruce Jenner New Name ‘Caitlyn’: Wasn't Offered

When Sportbet.com.au began offering odds on Bruce Jenner’s new name they obviously had no clue that “Caitlyn” would be the chosen one.

Jenner announced his new name Monday now that he has transformed into a woman.  Sportbet had not even featured this name among its odds.

Among the favorites, Zoey, Chasity, Agnes and Taylor.

There is no official female variant of the name Bruce, itself meaning “from the brushwood thicket”, a Norman place-name made famous by the Scottish king Robert the Bruce.

With the French variation of the name translating to Le Brix, it could have been surmised that Jenner would select the name “Bree” or the more feminine “Brianne”, the later of which was being offered up at 19/1 odds.

Yes, Bruscilla, though mostly a made up name to culminate with the Bruce Jenner sex change.

Jenner joins a whole list of folks in the public eye that have gone through sex change operations, including Cher’s daughter, Chasity, now Chaz Bono.

Even famed bookies including one of the first to set up shop in Costa Rica, a gentleman by the name of Monty, have been transformed into the opposite gender, albeit only some nights of the week.
