Birdman $5 Million Super Bowl Bet: Not Even a Chirp

On Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 rapper and hip-hop mogul Birdman boasted on Twitter that he was going to bet $5 million dollars on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.  Approximately 48 hours later BetOnline.com accepted his challenge and gave him instructions on how to make his bet.  (Get the latest 2012 Super Bowl betting odds, including hundreds of proposition wagers , from BetOnline.com here)

After a weekend of silence, on Monday BetOnline.com put up proposition lines where Birdman’s fans could bet on whether or not he was going to place the $5 million bet at BetOnline.com.  On Tuesday, with still not even a chirp from Birdman, BetOnline.com’s oddsmakers were forced to adjust the lines on the ‘Will Birdman bet $5 Million at BetOnline.com’ prop.

“Since opening the prop, the response has been overwhelming,” stated Dave Mason of BetOnline.com. “Even though we are getting tons of action on this prop, it is all one-sided action; almost everyone is betting against Birdman. Even though we have taken hundreds of wagers in total, only 10 bets have been placed on Birdman actually placing the bet with us. So we had no other choice but to move the odds from him NOT making the bet from -700 all the way to -1500. In other words, the bettor now has to lay $1500 to win $100.”

On the flip side, if Birdman is serious about placing this massive wager, the ‘Yes, Birdman will bet $5 Million at BetOnline.com’ pays out at +1000. But considering that only a handful of bettors are biting on the generous odds, leads to speculation that Birdman’s fans and the betting public do not believe Birdman is the bettor he proclaims to be.

Birdman, is widely known to Tweet about wagers he placed in the range of $1-$5 million on events like an NBA game or the Super Bowl XLV.  Speculation existed that Birdman was not really the bettor he pretended to be. Now it looks like there is proof.

“Not only are we surprised that Birdman has gone silent, but we are equally surprised that the bettors have little faith in him putting his money where his mouth is. By not at least responding to our offer, Birdman is losing all his ‘street cred’ with his millions of fans. If he doesn’t make this record-setting bet, he’ll never be able to brag, with a straight face, about his alleged seven-figure wagers.” Mr. Mason added.

Even though Super Bowl XLVI is still five days away, it is game-time for Birdman if he wants to make the bet and more importantly, ‘save face’ with all of his fans.

“If Birdman is serious about making the $5 Million bet, he needs to let us know now. Making a bank wire of such a large sum can take up to three days. If we don’t hear from him by Wednesday at the latest, I think we and all of his fans can draw the conclusion that Birdman isn’t the big time bettor he makes himself out to be.”

“Prove the bettors wrong Birdman. Sign-up with www.BetOnline.com and register online. Then send me an e-mail directly at David@BetOnline.com, and I’ll provide wire instructions on how to post-up the $5 million. -1500 against you is not pretty and will be almost impossible to ‘live down’ Birdman!” Mason concluded.
