(Gambling911.com Sports Wire) - Police in Coral Springs, Florida have confirmed that charges against Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, or JPP for short, have been dropped following a fireworks accident that left him with an injury to his hand.

Brad McKeon, a public information officer for the Coral Springs Police Department, told multiple media outlets that police confirmed through Pierre-Paul's representatives that the incident occurred outside the department's jurisdiction.

JPP was potentially facing an illegal fireworks charge that could have interfered with the upcoming season.  He could still face criminal charges in other Florida jurisdictions where fireworks are prohibited without a permit though readily sold throughout the state.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Pierre-Paul’s future with the team remained uncertain.  JPP suffered burns and a possible nerve injury on one of his hands.  While the injuries do not appear to be career-ending, Giants officials may be reluctant to sign his $14.8 million tender.

As of July 7, New York remains a -115 favorite to win at least eight regular season games.   Pierre-Paul became a hot Fantasy commodity by season’s end, posting over 12 fantasy points in three of the Giants last four games.
