Lionel Messi Copa America

For those of you looking to score with the 2011 Copa America competition, how about Lionel Messi at 10 to 1 odds of being the top goal scorer.  These odds were available at William Hill and pay $100 for every $10 bet or $1000 for every $100 bet.

Messi managed to lead his Argentina side to a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica.  That win propels Argentina into the quarter-finals.

The daily La Nacion wrote that "Argentina threw off the shackles," while noting that "they were looking for a player to show them the way and take the initiative with personality and conviction, to set in train a collective functioning which had not existed."

Costa Rica's Diario Extra said, for its part, that Messi was simply too good.

"So you wanted to play with Messi?" was how the paper framed a picture of the Barcelona star, ball at his feet, slaloming past four Costa Ricans.

"La Pulga (the flea - Messi's nickname) made us look pretty bad.”

Sergio Aguero (7/4 odds) and Radmael Falcao (5/1 odds) each have a shorter price than Messi of being the top scorers at this year's Copa America.
