Lions-Bears Point Spread: Clausen to Start in Place of Cutler

The Lions-Bears point spread had Detroit as a -8 to -9.5 road favorite on the road depending on the book.

This is a critical game for Detroit but will Chicago, who have no post season hopes, want to play spoiler. 85% of those betting this game are backing Detroit and the bookies are running scared, moving this line a full two points this week.

Jay Cutler will not be starting for this game.  Instead we will see Jimmy Clausen step in.

"The bottom line is that this is a business based on winning and losing," Bears head coach Marc Trestman said earlier this week of the decision to start Clausen. "We can't sugarcoat it. We are disappointed that we're not playing well enough to win."

Detroit has won the last three in this series but only this year did they win by the current number.

The Lions are 8-3 Against The Spread in their last 11 vs. NFC North but are just 10-22-1 ATS in their last 33 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games.

The Bears are a dismal 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 vs. NFC North.

To be clear, the Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy is pretty certain to land in Minnesota.  But what if the New England Patriots shock us and pick McCarthy at Number 3 before the Vikings get their opportunity at No. 5?
