Vikings Teddy Bridgewater Out for Season? Blow to Futures Bettors
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered a "significant" knee injury in practice Tuesday that was later revealed to be a torn ACL with other structural damage.
The Vikings odds of winning the 2017 Super Bowl were coming in at 30-1 odds as of 6:15 pm EST Tuesday evening.
NFC North Division odds had been taken off the board at most books and remained off the board heading into the 9 pm EST hour. The Vikings division odds were coming in at 7-5 Tuesday morning after Green Bay at 2-3. This will likely be a blow to gamblers who were backing Minnesota to win the NFC North.
"After undergoing an MRI, it was determined that Teddy suffered a complete tear to his ACL and other structural damage," the statement read. "Fortunately, there appears to be no nerve or arterial damage. Surgical repair will be scheduled within the next few days.
"Although the recovery time will be significant, we expect Teddy to make a full recovery. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and our athletic training staff for all of their help today. Teddy has already displayed the attitude needed to overcome this injury and attack his rehab."
When asked if there was a chance Bridgewater could play this season, Zimmer responded at the time, "It doesn't look good right now."
Bridgewater dropped back to pass during a drill, planted his foot and immediately went down. He grabbed his left knee while concerned teammates and athletic trainers huddled around him.
This is a developing story….
