Washington State, Oregon Bookies Hopeful Seahawks Woes Prevent Cover

It’s fair to say that the only folks residing throughout Washington State and much of Oregon rooting against the Seattle Seahawks Sunday are the regional bookies.

Of all the teams playing this NFL Wildcard weekend, Seattle was seeing the most lopsided action at just over 80% at some books.

Still, the line has had to keep coming down.  Most recently, Marshawn Lynch was ruled out as of Friday night, resulting in a line move of a half point to a full point at most of the books.

As of Saturday morning Seattle was the -4 to -4.5 road favorite (down from a high of -6).  The Seahawks, not used to playing in extreme cold, will also be forced to contend with temperatures that will barely climb above zero degrees at game time.

“Forecasters are calling for a high of 3 degrees Sunday,” notes Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  “Not surprisingly, most of the totals action is on the UNDER at 60 percent.”

The total for this game was set at 39.5.  By comparison, two of the other three games were seeing more lopsided OVER action with the other being balanced.  Cold weather typically has an adverse effect on ball handling.
