LA Chargers

The Chargers will get to pick No. 5 Thursday.  New head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz have already gone on record as saying they intend to be competitive in this year's draft.

Realistically, they should only target a wide receiver or offensive tackle at No. 5, writes Arjun Menon of PFF.com.

Malik Nabers is the most likely choice.

In its current state, the Chargers roster needs:

• A WR1 who can be Justin Herbert’s best friend for the next decade.

• An impactful interior defensive lineman who can rush the passer and play the run.

• A young outside cornerback to be the main guy in Jesse Minter's defense.

• A starting-caliber linebacker, but the team can address this outside the first round.

Nabers is the +230 favorite to be selected No. 5 but Marvin Harrison Jr. comes in a close 3-1.

LA Rams

The Rams get the No. 19 pick.

A former No. 2 draft pick for the Rams, Chris Long, says he'd like LA to trade up for Byron Murphy.  He's listed with a total over/under of 14.5.

The Chargers just saw a great defensive tackle retire and Long thinks the Rams could be keeping quiet on Murphy hoping to move up from 19 to go get him.

Speaking on the Green Light podcast, Long said, "Is this Byron Murphy silence...I mean, I feel like we haven’t heard anything about him relative to his skillset. I think he’s amazing, I really like this kid. I wonder of the lack of noise is a product of a bunch of people hoping he will be there for them. How high do you think he will go?"
