Philadelphia Bookies, Eastern Pennsylvania and Penn State: Scranton, Allentown

Okay so we know there is a whole swath of land between Eastern Pennsylvania and Western Pennsylvania, between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and, yes, there are bookies residing in the central portion of PA.  But alas Gambling911.com has elected to focus on the Philadelphia bookies and, more recently, the Pittsburgh bookies.

Philadephia has had it much harder in recent years with a number of high profile arrests of bookies allegedly tied to local organized crime families.  This doesn’t mean that the average bookie has much to fear as PA is fairly lax when it comes to gambling laws per se.  Both sports betting and bookmaking are considered mere misdemeanors in the Keystone State.

Philadephia and a number of other Eastern Pennsylvania cities like Allentown and Scranton border New Jersey, and this whole region is ripe with sports bettors.

Gamblers in this region will tend to follow the Eagles but there are hoards of folks who will be betting on Penn State College Football.  Pennsylvania State University is actually located smack dab in the middle of the state in State College.

Bookies can be found mostly in area sports bars.

For Philadephia, check out McGillans, Field House, Tabu Lounge & Sports Bar, Murphy’s, Philadium, Drinker’s West and Cavanaugh’s.

Allentown sports bars include the likes of Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery and Volpes.

Scranton sports bars include Ale Mary’s and Jasons, among others.
State College sports bars are plentiful and include the likes of Westside Stadium, Champs and Bill Pickle’s Tap Room among others.
